Principles of Operation
Noise levels are measured in decibels (dBA). Most people talk at about 70 decibels. Decibels are measured on a scale like the one for earthquakes -- so when the decibels go up a little, the noise goes up a lot. For example 73 decibels is twice as loud as 70.

This 200-pair box of MSA Safety Works’ Foam Ear Plugs features individually packaged pairs of foam ear plugs that are hygienically appealing to the users. These unique plugs are hexagonally shaped to allow them to be more easily rolled up for insertion in the ear canal. Once inserted, they expand to the exact shape of the ear canal, allowing a significant Noise Reduction (NRR 29). Despite this high noise reduction, the real excitement in this product comes from its ability to soften in use. The plugs use the body heat that comes from the ear canal to warm the plugs making them even more soft and comfortable after a few minutes.
